A Who Detroit interview with Drs. Abe Gershonowicz and James Neme

Abe Gershonowicz, D.D.S and James Neme, D.D.S., have over 45 years of combined experience practicing multi discipline dentistry.

Who: Are people really afraid to go to the dentist?
Dr. Gershonowicz: Many are. But we've found that the anticipation of seeing us for the first time is much worse than their actual experience. When a patient walks into our office, our staff immediately puts them at ease, virtually eliminating the fear factor.

Who: Doesn't everyone want a beautiful smile?
Dr. Neme: Sure, everyone does. But most people are afraid of going to the dentist. That's why we take time to communicate with our patients to understand what's bothering them. Being fearful is nothing to be embarrassed about. Our staff is trained to listen and then adjust our treatment program so there's virtually no pain. We can use a local anesthetic like novocaine or completely sedate someone. We have a nurse-anesthetist on staff that treats patients according to their needs.

Who: You offer a complete menu of dental services. Isn't that unusual?
Dr. Neme: It is – but we feel it's important. Our patients tell us that whether it's a cleaning, braces or oral surgery, going to different dentists for every procedure is too time consuming. That's why we have a staff of seven dental professionals.

Dr. Gershonowicz: It's rewarding to know that our patients receive a higher level of care since there are fewer barriers to getting the services they need.

Who: What services do you offer?
Dr. Gershonowicz: We do it all. Of our seven dental professionals, four are general dentists and the three others are skilled in oral surgery, periodontal disease, implants, etc. We also offer dramatic cosmetic procedures like ZOOM™.

Dr. Neme: Of course, prevention is always the best cure. Don't miss your regular hygiene visit every six months. Call for an appointment and you'll see that a visit to the dentist doesn't have to be an unpleasant experience!
